...Apparently the only H&M soundtrack LP released by A&M at the time ('72) was in Japan (A&M Records GP-216)! And it didn't even include the two songs written expressly for the movie, "Don't Be Shy" and "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out". Here's the "official" answer from CatStevens.com's FAQ:

Yes and No. A soundtrack was released for Harold And Maude, only in Japan, but did not include the two original songs from the film. Apparently they wanted to both boost sales of Cat's actual albums and also encourage fans to go see the movie to hear the new songs.

Thankfully all of the songs from the film are now available on various albums. They are "Mona Bone Jakon", "Tea For The Tillerman" and "Footsteps in the Dark".
